Getting married in the Kiwi style! New Zealand boasts beautiful sceneries and quiet beaches which you might be able to hold the unique destination wedding.

In the 2 large islands of New Zealand, there are many great beaches and sports suitable for capturing the picturesque memorable moments of the great wedding.

 

  • Mount Maunganui Beach

The pristine sands have long attracted many people, both tourists and locals. It is a great venue for summertime activities.

If you want to capture great breathtaking views of the city and ocean, there are tracks where you take to the summit of the mountain.

Activities: Surfing, parasailing, beach volleyball etc.

  • Raglan’s Ocean Beach

A world renowned place for surfing.  The landscape is perfect for the backdrop for the perfect beach wedding.

Activities: Surfing, swimming (caution, only within the flags), picnicking etc.

  • Ninety Mile Beach

 

Regarded as one of the best surfing beaches, Ninety Mile Beach offers spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. With the long stretches of beautiful scenaries, you can find many nice places for your wedding ceremony.

 

You might be able to catch a glimpse of wild horses running around the area!

Another spot is the Rarawa Beach with soft sands.

 

  • Ripiro Beach – North

 

The longest driveable beach in New Zealand. It extends 100km from Maunganui Bluff in the north, to Pouto Point at the entrance to the Kaipara Harbour in the south.

 

Drive along and perhaps pick a spot!


New Zealand Marriage License

 

You must be married by an appointed marriage celebrant.  It can be the Registrar of Marriage or someone from an appointed organization. You could refer to the approved list by the Registrar of Marriages.

 

 

You have to file a Notice of Intended Marriage and be in New Zealand 3 days prior to your wedding. You have to make payment at the Registry Office in New Zealand that is nearest to your intended place of marriage.

 

You would need to sign a statoutory declaration.  For those who live ouside of New Zealand, the form to fill is Notice of Intended Marriage for both who live outside of New Zealand. The statutory declaration has to be signed in the presence of a New Zealand Commonwealth representative.

 

The license is valid for 3 months from date of issue and you are free to marry at the place where you have specified. Do state an alternative backup venue in the marriage license application.

 

Fees:

Marriage by Registrar: NZ$170

Marriage by Marriage Celebrant: NZ$120

 

Payment Methods:

Bank Draft, Cash, Credit Cards (subjective)

 

For those Under 18 but at least 16 years of age:

Consents from the minor's legal guardian or parent.

If not, you must get approval from the judge of a family court. 

If both parents and guardian do not consent to the marriage, you could obtain approval from the Family Court judge to get married.

How to Get to New Zealand

There are 3 international airports, Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Major flights fly to these airports.


Approximate Flight timing:

Australia :  3 hours

West Coast US: 12 hours direct flight

 

From the airports, you could get around using the various means of transport such as taxis, cars, buses, etc. Self drive is popular among the various choices.

 

Domestic flights

You could get around to the other locations via domestic flights.
